Article Abstract
Vol 5 No 2 - June 2000

The Effect of International Agreements and the Impending Convergence of Technologies on Australian Television Content
Anna Feros BA LLB; Solicitor, Mallesons Stephen Jaques

Domestic content quotas are seen as the guardian against the overwhelming invasion of foreign persuasive media invaders which would attack our cultural values and local production industries. This article will outline the recent history of the Broadcasting Services (Australian Content) Standard 1999, its battles, victories and injuries as the backdrop for trying to predict where this standard will take the television viewing of the Australian people in light of Australia's international agreements.
