Associate Dean (Research) Welcome
Melbourne Law School is an outstanding research institution with internationally recognised scholars and some of the best emerging research talent in Australia.
The books and articles written by our scholars have been cited by leading judges, academics and policy makers in Australia and throughout the world. They have influenced law reform on topics as diverse as the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities; climate change; Islamic law; sustainable indigenous communities; health care; defamation; new regulatory compliance strategies; the treatment of detainees; and the protection and use of DNA in criminal trials. Above all, researchers at Melbourne Law School are committed to producing high quality, internationally recognised scholarly work that changes the way we understand and apply law.
A wide range of research interests exist within Melbourne Law School, some of which are grouped within 15 specialist research centres, institutes and groups. These groups provide intellectual homes for academics and graduate research students (PhD and MPhil) with overlapping interests. They also contribute to the Law School's active program of research conferences, seminars and workshops, which attract scholars, students and members of the public from around the world.
Whether you are interested in coming to Melbourne as a student, visitor or future colleague, I am sure that you will find the research environment at Melbourne Law School welcoming and stimulating.
