Andrew Stewart is John Bray Professor of Law at the University of Adelaide. Prior to this appointment, he was Professor of Law at Flinders University, and also works for the law firm Piper Alderman as a Legal Consultant. An Oxford law graduate, his previous positions include being Dean of Law at Flinders, Convenor of the Committee of Australian Law Deans and President of the Australasian Law Teachers Association. Prior to joining Flinders he was employed at Sydney University, having started his career at the University of Adelaide.
A specialist in labour relations and employment law, he is the co-author (with Breen Creighton) of the leading text Labour Law, now in its fourth edition, as well as numerous articles for Australian and international journals. He is also interested in the areas of intellectual property, contract law and e-commerce.
Besides Piper Alderman, he has provided expert advice to the International Labour Organisation, to Federal and State governments in Australia, to the Auditor-General of South Australia and to a range of other organisations. He is a member of the Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, and a former President of the Industrial Relations Society of South Australia.
