Book a Discussion Room

The Law Library has 11 discussion rooms. These rooms are only available for use by University of Melbourne law students.
  • 7 discussion rooms are located on level 5 of the Law Library. (No key is required for rooms on level 5.)
  • 4 discussion rooms are located on level 4. (Please collect the key from the Service Desk.)
Important Information- Conditions of use

These rooms are only available to groups of 2 or more students for the purpose of quiet discussion. Bookings for use by individual students will not be accepted.

If you are not able to make use of your discussion room booking please cancel it. You can do this by clicking on your existing booking, then click the modify button followed by the delete button. Due to heavy demand , if you do not arrive within 15 minutes of the booked time, the booking will be cancelled.

Bookings may be made for up to 3 hours per student per day. Failure to return the key after 3 hours will result in fines being incurred.

Please present your student card at the loans desk when collecting discussion room keys for discussion rooms on level4. No keys are required for discussion rooms on level 5.

Records are kept of all bookings, and random checks on the use of discussion rooms are carried out.

Please do not leave books or other materials in the discussion rooms and be sure to lock the door of level 4 discussion rooms before returning the key to the loans desk.

Please read these instructions carefully.

Law students can use the online booking system. The user name and password required are the same as those used to access a PC in the Labs.
