Law Library IT Service Officers

IT Officers are available to assist law students with a range of IT issues. An IT Officer is available on most weekdays, evenings and weekends. Call 8344 8136, email law-labhelp@unimelb.edu.au or visit the Law Library IT Services office located outside the PC labs on the eastern side of level 3.

Student Networks

University of Melbourne students with their own laptop computers may make use of either of the two student networks.

SPIN

The Student Plug-In Network (SPIN) is available throughout the Law Library. Information about configuring laptop computers to use the network is available from the Information Desk (law-lrc@ unimelb.edu.au). Network cables are available for loan from the Loans Desk on level 3 of the Law Library.

Wireless Network

A wireless network is available for use throughout the Law Library and in many other locations at the University of Melbourne. Wireless cards may be borrowed from the Information Desk. Information on setting up laptop computers to use the network is available from the Information Desk (law-lrc@ unimelb.edu.au) on level 3 of the Law Library.

Email Accounts

A University of Melbourne email account is available to all currently enrolled students. For information about setting up an email account please call the Student IT HelpDesk on (03) 8344 0164 . To reset your University Student Email Account please use the following link http://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/

PC Labs

The Law Library has three computer labs for student access with a total 110 PCs. PC Access and Printing is available in all three PC labs for students currently Enrolled in at least One LawSubject at the University of Melbourne. Students should enter their University of Melbourne student account details when prompted.

Printing Credit System

Students who are in a Law Subject and cannot print please Email (law-lrc@ unimelb.edu.au) your Name, Student Account Name and state if you are a Post Grad or an Under Grad and you will be provided an account with start-up funds.

Printing credit is assigned each semester: Post Grads are allocated $50 and Under Grads are allocated $10. Print accounts are reset at the end of each calendar year. Printing Credit can be monitored from the following address: Printing Credit Balance

If you run out of Printing Credit both the Law Library Lab Supervisor and the Law Library loans desk accept EFTPOS and CREDIT cards for purchasing printing credit. If you wish to purchase credit with cash please visit the cashier on LEVEL 9 of the Law building and ask to purchase printing credits for the Law Library computer labs.

Printing Costs.

  • Single sided: 10 cents per page.
  • Double sided: 10 cents per side.

Public Access Computers
