Andrew Godwin was in private practice for 15 years, 10 of which were spent in Shanghai. During his time in China, Andrew was ranked by Asia Pacific Legal 500 as one of the leading banking and finance lawyers in China. Andrew holds the following degrees from The University of Melbourne: B.A. (Hons), LL.B (Hons), LL.M. Since leaving private practice, Andrew has pursued a focus on legal education and professional training and development for lawyers. His research interests include finance and insolvency law, property law, regulation of the legal profession and professional training. Andrew also consults in the area of contract drafting and the use of plain language techniques. Andrew has published extensively in professional and academic journals and contributes a regular bilingual column (in English and Chinese) called ‘Lexicon’ to the China Business Law Journal, a journal that is published in Hong Kong. As a result of his time in practice and his involvement in training and professional publications, Andrew is a well-known and highly regarded specialist on Chinese law and legal practice in Australia and Greater China.
