Re-enrolment
All existing students will receive a re-enrolment pack in the mail. If you would like advice or guidance with subject selection or have any questions about the re-enrolment process, please contact the Melbourne Law Masters Office on (03) 8344 6190 or law-masters@unimelb.edu.au
When to re-enrol
- All Melbourne Law Masters students MUST re-enrol by 18 November 2011.
- If you intend to Transfer between Courses or take Leave of Absence you must submit the relevant forms by 18 November 2011. Download either form here: Transfer Courses form (.pdf) and Leave of Absence application form (.pdf)
- Please be aware that the University imposes fees and penalties for failing to re-enrol by the due date. As all subjects have a quota, you also risk not being able to get into your chosen subjects. Please ensure you submit a valid re-enrolment, application for leave of absence or application to transfer courses by the due date above to avoid penalty.
How to re-enrol
There is a 2 part process for enrolling in 2012:
- Nominate your subjects using the Re-enrolment form 2012 (.pdf) or email your subject choices to law-masters@unimelb.edu.au
- Then, go online to the Student Portal at www.portal.unimelb.edu.au, log in, click on the ‘Re-enrol Here’ button and follow the prompts to Complete the Enrolment Declaration.
Please note that you are not able to choose your subjects online through the Portal. We apologise for this double-handling, but Melbourne Law Masters staff need to check and approve all subject selections before enrolment is allowed, to ensure that quotas are maintained, subjects fit within course requirements and any necessary prerequisites are met.
Please also update your personal details if necessary via the ‘Admin’ section of your Student Portal. This includes your Home and Business Details.
Course and subject requirements
- The Prospectus for the Melbourne Law Masters provides individual course and subject requirements and timetable information - this information may also be found on our website.
- The Course Rules provide information on policies and procedures regarding your enrolment.
- Please choose your subjects carefully. We understand that a change in circumstances may necessitate a change in subject selection throughout the year. But for Melbourne Law Masters planning purposes, we need to rely on student subject selection as much as we can. To that end, we would like to minimise changes as far as possible.
- In choosing subjects, please check that there are no clashes with class/assessment dates throughout the year.
Prerequisites and recommended requirements
- Many subjects have prerequisites or recommended requirements that can be met by completion of appropriate subjects or equivalent relevant work experience or prior study.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet any subject prerequisites and course requirements. If you are seeking a waiver of a prerequisite or need to demonstrate you have met a subject prerequisite, please complete and submit an Application for Waiver of Prerequisites form (.pdf) with your re-enrolment.
Please note that not complying with course and subject requirements does not constitute grounds for any form of special consideration or special assessment.
Approval of re-enrolment
- After submission of your subject choices, we will contact you via your University of Melbourne email account within two weeks to advise whether your subjects have been approved. If you have not received a response within two weeks, please contact the Melbourne Law Masters Office.
To activate your email account or update your password, go to https://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/manage. You will need your library barcode – please contact the Melbourne Law Masters Office to obtain this if required.
Fees
Please refer to your Student Portal (www.portal.unimelb.edu.au) for information on fee due dates. The University fee policy and other administrative arrangements regarding fees are available at www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/fees/.
It is your responsibility to ensure fee payment deadlines are met. The University imposes fees and penalties (including the cancellation of a student’s enrolment) for failure to meet payment deadlines.
Higher Education Loan Program (FEE-HELP)
For further information on FEE-HELP and how it affects new and existing students, please refer to www.goingtouni.gov.au. Applications for FEE-HELP can be submitted through your student portal, under the Admin tab and click on ‘Apply for commonwealth assistance’. Please note that if you are already registered for FEE-HELP in 2011, you do not need to re-apply for this for 2012 if you are re-enrolling into the same course.
