What is your professional education and work background?
I completed my Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Business at Victoria University in Melbourne.
I began my career in law in a boutique firm in Collins Street, Melbourne, where I developed a passion for criminal law. From here I progressed to running all criminal law matters in a Carlton firm to currently working in criminal prosecutions on behalf of a Victorian Government Department.
How did you come about studying with Melbourne Law School?
I have had a passion for law from the age of 13 and a desire to obtain as much knowledge as possible in law.
I soon decided after completing my undergraduate degrees that I wanted to complete a Master of Laws and Doctorate and there simply was no other option in my mind to complete these anywhere other than Melbourne University.
Describe your experience of studying in the Melbourne Law Masters.
My experience at Melbourne Law School has been nothing short of amazing. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to study at one of the most prestigious universities, where there is a wealth of knowledge in the relevant areas in law, where lecturers go beyond their call of duty to help all students in their learning, where resources and facilities are plentiful and the range of subjects offered is extensive.
Why did you choose to undertake the subjects you did? Were they particularly relevant to your field of work, believed they would fulfill a passion in that area etc.?
The subjects which I have undertaken in the Melbourne Law Masters program have been strategically chosen to aid me in furthering my career and passion in criminal law, with the aim of being able to take this to an international level.
What networking opportunities has the Melbourne Law Masters provided you with?
The Melbourne Law Masters has enabled me to make the international connections for furthering my career in criminal law that I have needed. It has further placed me in circumstances where I have met like minded students who I will remain in contact with and lecturers who are experts in the relevant field of international criminal law.
What do you enjoy most about your current role?
I enjoy the advocacy part of my current role the most.
How do you think your studies will help you in your current role and in the future?
I believe my studies at Melbourne Law Masters will enable me to take my career to a new level. In my current role it has provided me with a wealth of knowledge which enables me to complete my role to the best of my ability.
What if anything, surprised you about studying with us?
I must admit, my expectations coming to Melbourne University were high but I can now say that these expectations have been far exceeded.
