I first worked as a teacher of Communications and English, in the TAFE system. I undertook a management qualification, and very much liked the commercial law subject, so I applied to do Law at Melbourne, and undertook this as a mature age student, in conjunction with my first NFP management roles, first with the Australian Booksellers Association then at the Student Union at Melbourne, I then moved into senior management at the University, including having responsibility for the legal, audit and compliance functions. I then went to Engineers Australia, as Executive Director of their Victorian branch, and from there to AMA Victoria as CEO.
