Bruce is undertaking a full time PhD in the Melbourne Law School examining the relationship between insolvency laws and financial stability, supervised by Associate Professors Paul Ali and Helen Anderson.

He is a Teaching Fellow for taxation law.

He completed articles in 1992 at Freehill Hollingdale and Page and has practised as a banking and finance solicitor since that time. He has extensive experience in international and domestic finance transactions, including acquisition finance, project finance, and financial restructuring. He was previously a partner at Baker & McKenzie and Freehills.

He completed a Master of Laws in 1997 and a Master of Commerce (Honours) in Finance in 2003 with first class honours, and has published research articles on a variety of banking and finance law topics.
