Dr Joyce Chia is currently employed as a full-time Research Fellow on the Not-for-Profit Project, an Australian Research Council study of the definition, taxation and regulation of the not-for-profit sector. She completed her PhD in comparative immigration and refugee law in Australia and the United Kingdom at University College London in 2009, and has a first-class Arts/Law degree from the University of Melbourne. She has previously worked at the Australian Law Reform Commission, Federal Court of Australia and Victorian Court of Appeal, as well as teaching at the University of Melbourne, University College London and La Trobe University.
