Ms Judy Bourke

Judy is an experienced solicitor, qualifying with an Honours degree from The University of Melbourne in 1991. At the firm Gill, Kane and Brophy, she practised in general civil litigation, defamation and racing industry matters.

Judy is an editor of the standard Victorian liquor reference, Bourke’s Liquor Laws Victoria, and has been for over 20 years. In addition, she is the author of the Liquor section of Halsbury's Laws of Australia.

Judy qualified as a veterinary surgeon prior to her legal career. An article she published in the Australian Bar Review concerning forensic evidence has been cited extensively in official enquiries in Australia and Canada.

At the end of 2007, the Australian Law Journal published Judy’s article entitled, ‘‘Equine Influenza – The Legal Framework of Quarantine".
