Malcolm Speed has recently retired as the Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council which is based in Dubai. His career as a lawyer in Australia commenced in 1970 and finished in 1994 when he ceased practising as a barrister in Melbourne to concentrate on sports administration roles. His long history in sports administration includes senior positions in Australian Basketball from 1980 until 1997 including long periods as Executive Chairman of the National Basketball League and Basketball Australia. From 1997 until 2001, he was Chief Executive of the Australian Cricket Board. In July 2001 he moved to Lord’s Cricket Ground in London when he was employed as Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council. From 1997 until 2001 he was a Commissioner of the Australian Sports Commission. From 1993 until 1997 he was Chairman of Victorian Council for Fitness and Health.
