Dr Michelle Taylor-Sands

Senior Lecturer

Michelle Taylor-Sands is a senior lecturer in Melbourne Law School at the University of Melbourne.  She holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University and Doctor in Philosophy from the University of Melbourne.  Michelle primarily publishes in the areas of civil justice and health law and bioethics.  She currently teaches Dispute Resolution in the JD program.

Prior to becoming an academic, Michelle was as a senior lawyer with the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS).  She worked at the AGS for nine years as a litigation specialist in government law and regulation.  She has extensive practice experience in the areas of administrative law, trade practices and commercial litigation.

 

 


Areas of Expertise:

Current Research Interests
Michelle's research interests include civil justice reform and health law and bioethics.  She has published articles in national and international journals on the Commonwealth model litigant obligations, legal education, saviour siblings and the welfare of the child in assisted reproductive technology (ART).  Her PhD was on the regulation of saviour siblings.  She is currently working on a book that proposes a relational approach to the welfare of the child in ART.
